Seasoned ground beef is the main ingredient of tamale pie, which is served with a cornmeal crust, a thick enchilada sauce, cheese, and tomatoes on top. A midweek supper would be ideal with this casserole recipe, which is a simple take on tamales.

Adjust the oven's temperature to 400°F. Pat a 9-inch pie plate clean and reserve.
Put the egg, sour cream, creamed corn, and cornmeal mix into a big basin.
Fill the baking dish with the cornbread mixture, and bake for approximately ten minutes. After you add each layer, it won't be finished baking, but it will bake more.
Ground beef should be ready while the cornbread is baking. Saute in a big skillet over medium heat until done. Season with salt and add the green chilies. Saute for a further three minutes, stirring to mix.
Indent the cornbread with a fork, then cover and fill the holes with the enchilada sauce.
Top the cornmeal with the meat mixture and cheese shreds.
When the cheese is bubbling and melted, bake it for 25 minutes. Before serving, take it out of the oven and let it cool for a little while.
